Two New Polls Say America is Pro-Life
Majority Tell Gallup and Fox News They
Are Pro-Life.
Two new polls show that America is pro-life.
A new
Gallup Poll Announced that 51 percent of Americans
identified themselves as pro-life while only 42 percent
defined themselves as pro-choice. 49 percent of women
said they were pro-life. 44 percent said they are pro-
choice.
This is the first time Gallup has found more Americans
to identify themselves as pro-life than pro-choice. But
this is not new to pro- lifers. For a decade, a series
of polls have showed that Americans take one of three
pro- life positions, abortion for the life of the
mother, abortion for rape and incest, or no abortions at
all.
In a May 18, 2009
Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll coming right on the
heels of the Gallup poll, 49 percent say they are
pro-life, 43 percent say they are "pro-choice." 69
percent of Republicans said they were pro-life, 27
percent said they were pro-choice. 51 percent of
independents are pro-life, 40 percent are pro-choice.
34 percent of Democrats are pro-life. 57 percent are
pro-choice.
Nevada LIFE believes that these new poll numbers
underestimates the number of pro- life Americans.
Polls have consistently shown for a decade that
Americans support one of three pro-life positions,
abortions for rape and incest only, for the life of the
mother or for no reason at all. Many identifying
themselves as pro-choice are actually pro- life and
would prohibit 95 percent of all abortions.
Pro-lifers should not be misled by abortion advocates’
typical, worn out and deceptive response that people
still want abortion legal. When asked if abortion
should be legal, even pro-life former President George
W. Bush would have to say yes because he supports
abortion for rape/incest (less than one percent of all
abortions) and for the life of the mother. This
misleading comment implies that many Americans who
support abortion for these exceptions support abortion
on demand when they clearly do not.
This couldn't happen at a better time. This discovery
comes at the very moment that well known Republicans and
political operatives from the failed McCain campaign are
suggesting that the party modify or drop its pro-life
image.
These leaders fail to see that President Obama's extreme
abortion positions, including support for the Freedom of
Choice Act, public funding of abortion in America and
abroad, his willingness to force doctors to violate
their consciences, his support for partial birth
abortion and his romance with Planned Parenthood and
other abortion groups, are pushing many Americans to be
more pro-life. All they needed to do was watch the
outrage of Catholics and alumni of Notre Dame at Obama
being invited to speak at Notre Dame.
As America becomes increasingly pro-life, it is an
outrage that president Obama is implementing radical
abortion policies, pushing for public funding of
abortion and packing the courts and his administration
with abortion advocates, all with the support of
"pro-life Harry Reid"
who says he could support a health care plan funding
abortion.
Obama's abortion policies are alienating large numbers of
Americans. It makes political sense to run toward
these voters, not from them.
